Garrett Graham and Megan Ney win in Charlottesville
Last weekend we headed down the road an hour to the University of Virginia for their Lou Onesty Invitational. There were a couple of events held Friday with the majority of the meet contested on Saturday. It’s historically been a good meet and nice because it’s so close to home for us….so, the majority of our team members do not miss classes. A little trivia...Lou Onesty was a Univ. of Richmond graduate and standout athlete for the Spiders before coaching at both Virginia Tech and retiring at the Univ. of Virginia.

Steve Taylor Quote:“Garrett Graham looked great today winning the 1500M. Even though the race went out slow (@65 seconds) he was patient...and let the race develop. He moved well over the final lap closing under 60 second pace... It was a good race and the best I’ve seen him in his career. He was on today.”
Lori Taylor Quote: “Megan Ney continues to show her senior leadership and competitiveness. The focus this weekend with her was the triple jump...To start the day she was leading the Long Jump entering finals and we elected to not have her jump finals so she was fresher for the triple jump...Unfortunately, she was passed in finials and ended 2nd...She then entered the triple jump and put it together in finals to tie her own school record...She has an even bigger jump in her and she knows it...In the throws, Monica Howard threw well in the discus... It’s good to see some of our upper classmen leading the team with their performances...They are becoming more consistent each weekend which will put them in position for the A-10 Championships...We rested most of our distance runners today but they return to compete next weekend at Mt SAC in Los Angeles, Princeton or VCU.”
