Matt Llano's 28:43.30 in the 10K tonight at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational ranks nationally as the 10th fastest 2011 NCAA DI time...It is also the 5th fastest mark within the NCAA East Region....Additionally, it is the top performance within the Atlantic 10 Conference, along with meeting the USATF National Championships "B" standard...His time also ranks 3rd among USA born runners...
"I felt great the first 5K. It really felt easy and I was right where I wanted to be", said Llano. "I had a few laps that I just didn't feel good, but then I felt better over the last mile."
"Matt ran a good race which ranks as a top 10 mark in the NCAA for this year", said Steve Taylor, Richmond's men's coach. "He had about 6-7 laps around the 4 mile point that were a little slower than he wanted, but he rebounded well and closed brilliantly running 4:31 over his final mile of the race... Matt is a tough competitor and I 'm happy with his effort here tonight."
