UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - The A-10 Conference announced freshman Ryan Lee as Rookie of the Week following his record-breaking finish at the Spider Alumni Open on Sept 4.

Lee came in fifth place, setting the freshman course record of 15:30.9. Levi Grandt, who came in first at the Alumni Open, previously held the record at 15:38.7.

Lee and teammate Levi Grandt worked
together early in the race.

"This was a great start to Ryan's career at the University of Richmond," said head coach Steve Taylor. "He was highly decorated in high school at Archmere Academy in Delaware and continues to elevate his success as a Spider. He has stepped into our team committed to helping our program achieve the goals we have set while elevating his own level of performance. He works well with our upper classmen and continues to use the resources he has to achieve success. Although he was not ecstatic about his performance this past weekend, he knows what he is capable of and has high expectations for himself. We are pleased to have him as part of our program and look forward to watching him continue to improve throughout his career."

He also set the all-time Delaware record in the 3,200m during the outdoor season at the 2010 Newcastle County Championships with a time of 9:12.19.
