Traynor Concludes Career in National Semifinals

DES MOINES, Iowa - Senior Nicol Traynor capped off her illustrious collegiate career on Wednesday in the Semifinal Round of the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Des Moines, Iowa.
Coming off an ankle injury suffered in May's NCAA Preliminary Round, Traynor (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) clocked a time of 10:36.16 to finish 11th in her heat and 21st overall.
After earning Second Team All-America honors with her 11th-place showing in the 3k Steeple a year ago, she now concludes her career having qualified for two consecutive National Semifinals and having made three overall NCAA Championship appearances in her four outdoor seasons as a Spider.

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Nicol Traynor is set to make her second-consecutive appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championship Semifinals in Des Moines, Iowa, this week. Traynor will compete in the semifinals of her signature 3,000 Meter Steeplechase on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. (ET) with the potential of advancing to Friday evening's finals.
Traynor (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) crossed the line in 10:05.60 to take fourth in her heat and ninth overall to finish as the top non-automatic 3k Steeple qualifier at May's NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla. Following her 11th-place finish in the event at last year's NCAA Championship, she will look to cap off her collegiate career as a two-time All-American.
The 2011 All-American is seeded 11th overall heading into this week's NCAA Semifinals and will compete in the first of the event's two heats. In addition to her performance in Jacksonville, Traynor is coming off a strong showing her conference meet and facility record time of 10:04.20 set at the A-10 Championship, where she was named the meet's Most Outstanding Women's Performer after racing to wins in both the 3k Steeple and 3,000 Meters. Traynor has qualified for the Preliminary Round in each of her four seasons as a Spider.
