PRINCETON, N.J./NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Richmond Track & Field wrapped up what was a busy weekend of competition at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational and Christopher Newport's Captain's Classic on Saturday behind a number of strong showings by the squad's underclassmen.
Sophomore Amanda Lineberry (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee Davis) secured a strong finish in the 1,500 Meters in Princeton, crossing the line in a personal-best 4:37.92 to finish fifth in the event's nearly 50-runner field. Senior Lydia Morton (Lebanon, N.H./Lebanon) followed suit with a time of 4:44.62 to take 15th.
Freshman Matthew Groff (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) would clock a top-10 finish in the men's portion of the 1,500 Meters, placing seventh in 3:54.52. Classmate Billy Fayette (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale) followed in 14th with a time of 3:57.28.
Closer to home at the Captain's Classic, sophomore Elizabeth Schinski (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo) trimmed nearly 20 seconds off her previous-best to top the field in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 11:26.

WALNUT, Calif./PRINCETON, N.J. - Competing on opposite coasts for the second consecutive day, Richmond Track & Field opened action at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational while also wrapping up running events at the Mt. SAC Relays in suburban Los Angeles.
Senior Nicol Traynor (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) got things going for the Spiders in their second and final day of competition at the Mt. SAC Relays. Slotted in the Olympic Development Elite heat of the 5,000 Meters, the 2011 All-American took 21st in the event with a time of 16:33.62.
Classmate Meaghan McGovern (North Kinsgton, R.I./North Kingston) opened action for the Spiders in Princeton on Friday, doing so in style by advancing to finals with a personal-best toss of 55.96 meters in the hammer throw that currently ranks first in the Atlantic 10 and just outside the top-30 in the NCAA East. Each of the senior standout's hurls surpassed the 55-meter mark, with her personal-best nearing Beth Crocus' school record of 56.42 meters set in 2006.

WALNUT, Calif. - Richmond Track & Field's busy weekend began on Thursday with a pair of Spider women running the 1,500 Meters at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.
In a formidable 129-runner field, Sophomore Alli Mannon(Lititz, Pa./Warwick) finished with a personal best in the 1,500 Meters with a time of 4:29.19, while junior Stephanie Paradis (Leesburg, Va./Stone Bridge) followed just seconds behind in 4:31.55, also setting a personal best.

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond Track & Field will split up for the first time this spring when the squads part ways for Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational, Christopher Newport's Captain's Classic and the Mt. SAC Relays. A preview of the Spiders' weekend ahead along with recent program notes can be found below.
INSIDE THE MT. SAC RELAYS
The 54th Annual running of the renowned Mt. SAC Relays is set to begin on Thursday at the Hilmer Lodge Stadium Track in Walnut, Calif., outside of Los Angeles. Five Spiders will make the trip to the West Coast this weekend - seniors Beth Kelly (10,000 Meters/Thursday) and Nicol Traynor(5,000 Meters/Friday), junior Stephanie Paradis (1,500 Meters/Thursday) and sophomores Alli Mannon (1,500 Meters) and Ryan Lee (5,000 Meters/Friday).
