Llano, Quinn, Ney Earn Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Atlantic 10 Honors


Since the time this was released (March 26) these three have been performing extremely well...

Academic senior, Matt Llano
___Matt Llano ran 28:51.69 in the 10K at the Stanford Invitational and was named the Atlantic 10 Track & Field Performer of the Week after turning in an impressive eighth-place finish. His time ranked as the seventh-fastest time in the NCAA this season thus far.

Senior, Megan Ney

___Megan Ney won the 45th Colonial Relays Long Jump with a jump of 5.84M (~19'02")...The mark is the best in the A-10 and ranked 40th in the NCAA at the time.

Junior, Tim Quinn

___Tim Quinn set a personal best mark of 14:36.10 in the 5K at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, VA...

Other Facts:

___It was recently announced for the eighth season in a row, both the University of Richmond men's and women's cross country teams earned NCAA All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

___22 members of the Richmond Cross Country/Track & Field Teams earned a place on the A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for achieving above a 3.5 GPA for the Fall 2009. The Track & Field teams have the highest number of representatives on the honor roll of the sports programs sponsored at the University of Richmond.

The trio collected top finishes at the A-10 Indoor Championship

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - Seniors Matt Llano and Megan Ney and junior Tim Quinn were recognized on the 2010 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference which was announced this week by the league office.

Llano, a senior from Arnold, Md. was the 2008 A-10 Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Year, and earned a spot on the 2010 Indoor Academic All-Conference team after winning gold in the 5,000m and taking silver in the 3,000m at the A-10 Championship. He was clocked at 14:37.52 in the 5,000m and 8:23.28 in the 3,000m. Llano owns a 3.72 GPA in Psychology.

“Matt is coming off a great fall and winter”, said Men’s Coach Steve Taylor. “He continues to show that he’s a complete student-athlete.”

A Pittsford, N.Y. native, Quinn collected fourth-place finishes at the A-10 Indoor Championship in both the 5,000m (14:48.80) and the 3,000m (8:34.66). Quinn owns a 3.92 GPA in political science and also earned a spot on the 2009 A-10 All-Academic Team for cross country.

Ney earned her first All-Academic honors, as the senior from McLean, Va. was the silver-medalist at the A-10 Indoor Championship in the long jump (5.68m), was fourth in the high jump (1.65m), seventh in the triple jump (11.57m), and ran on the 11th-place 4x400m relay (4:08.50). Ney, who owns a 3.63 GPA in psychology, also won the long jump at the CNU Invitational.
